All New Honda Odyssey to Be Equipped with 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

Recently, Honda has reported that the Odyssey model will celebrate its 25-year anniversary this year. To mark this event, the automaker unveiled that all new Odysseys will be equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission and an Idle-Stop system. Earlier, these options were implemented only in the upper-tier models (Touring and Elite trims).

The Odyssey model has been the most popular minivan (also known as an MPV vehicle) model among American customers for 9 years, with overall U.S. sales surpassing 2.7 mln units since it came into the market in 1995. Over 5 gens, Odyssey has become a real standard-bearer in the field of family fans. This model also became the 1-st to incorporate Honda minivan features such as third-row seats that can be folded into the floor, the 1-st embedded vacuum cleaner (also known as HondaVac), and the 1-st integrated child monitoring unit (Cabin Watch).

Review of the New Honda Odyssey

In the new 2020 line-up, all Odyssey MPVs will be notable for the new gear shifting solution as well as Idle Stop feature. Previously, LX, EX, and EX-L trims of Odyssey didn’t have the Idle Stop function and were equipped with 9-speed automatics. In addition to two abovementioned features, the anniversary Odyssey version will have a series of exterior components refinished in chrome.

The 2020 Odyssey MPV for American customers is produced only at Honda's Lincoln production facility, using local and imported car components. Its V6 engine is also made in Alabama, while the transmission solution is delivered by Honda's Tallapoosa factory.

The base-trim 2020 Odyssey LX model will cost you a bit more that $31 grand including a destination charge, while to get the Elite trim you’ll have to add $17K extra to the base trim price tag. But it should be noted that the Elite trim includes a wide range of additional functional capabilities. The 2020 Honda Odyssey is already available at Honda dealer centers.
