In June, Ford issued a recall of F-150 trucks related to transmission issues consisting in unexpected downshifts. The recall in June was an extra measure caused by the fact that the solution applied by Ford experts for dealing with the problem in the previous recall (in February) didn’t not produce the expected results. The summer recall has become more efficient and the NHTSA is completely satisfied with the fixes provided by the automaker.

Recently, Fords has faced a new class action lawsuit caused by problems with the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission installed in Ford F-150 trucks. The case papers say that transmission defects may lead to emergency situations on the road due to harsh shifts, jolts, delays and slippages. Recently, Ford has refused to use the 9-speed automatic transmission Hydra-Matic 9T50 developed by GM engineers as part of the partnership agreement. According to Ford representatives, they hoped for a better result from the partnership, especially regarding the transmission fuel efficiency.
