long ago, Ford officially stopped production at its transmission production
facility known as Ford Aquitaine Industries (FAI) in France. Founded in 1972,
the FAI has now ceased to exist within the framework of the Ford’s
restructuring strategy.
Following last year’s reconsideration of the strategic plans of the Ford concern in North America, now the company wants to optimize its activity in Europe. After a detailed analysis, the Ford officials came to conclusion that it is necessary to reduce the number of production facilities in Europe.
Recently, it has transpired that Ford plans to list for sale its French production facility specialized in manufacturing of gearboxes – Ford Aquitaine Industries (FAI) – because of a falling demand for compact automatic gearboxes in Europe.
