Manual transmissions make another step backward in the competition with automatics, as Mini reported about temporary suspension of its models equipped with manual gearboxes for the territory of the USA.

The British car maker Mini has recently informed about the plans to replace automatic transmissions, installed on the company’s cars, with automated transmissions.

The Mini plans to provide Hardtop and Convertible cars with a new 7-speed DCT transmission equipped with the electronically controllable shifting mechanism. Due to faster gear-shifting, this transmission will add a sport-like driving experience in comparison with regular type automatic transmissions.
