Allison Acquires Walker Die Casting
Allison Transmission, a major provider of
commercial duty automatic gear shifting solutions, has recently announced the
acquisition of one of its long-term suppliers of aluminum transmission
castings, plus an affiliated tool and die maker, in a deal estimated at $103
mln.
According to Allison officials, this purchase deal involving 2 reliable suppliers is a huge success for the company, as Walker’s products will play a crucial role in the manufacturing and quality conformance of Allison’s solutions. Allison put in great efforts not only to maintain high standards of the family-owned Walker business, but also to give it a major development boost.
Walker, specialized in aluminum casting designs, has been a reliable supplier to Allison for two decades. For six decades in the business, the company has been providing casting solutions for different auto parts used by customers not only in the US, but all around the globe. But not long ago, the company owners decided to sell the business and Allison decided to buy out this important asset for its gearbox manufacturing. Allison is eager to promoting the six decades of company’s legacy. C&R Tool and Engineering, also owned by the Walker family, is a major provider of metalworking accessories (using the latest technology and processes), which are widely used at Walker and other businesses.
Both companies will operate as Allison production facilities at their current locations. According to Walker website, the company currently employs 850 specialists. It hasn’t been an easy decision for the Walker family to sell its business, but they are absolutely sure that Allison will take good care of it. Despite the fact that Allison invested significant financial resources in purchase of its both suppliers, the company does not expect the deal to have any significant effect on present business year profits.
