Dana Inc. has recently reported that the company has finalized the takeover deal of the Drive Systems division of the Oerlikon Group, including the Graziano and Fairfield brands. This deal makes it possible for Dana to strengthen the potential of its electromobility program and significantly improves company’s production capacity in several directions.

The Drive Systems division includes a wide range of OEM companies specialized in the production of sophisticated engineering solutions that can be applied in equipment and machinery used in different industrial sectors, as well as in sports cars.


As a result of the deal, Dana can count on gaining financial benefits thanks to the following factors:

  • Dana will increase its technological capacity, particularly with regard to highly-refined helical (spiral) gears installed in transmission solutions. The acquired brand Graziano Oerlikon is the world's No. 1 provider of precision gears and shafts for final reduction elements applied in agricultural and off-road vehicles. The company is also a well-recognized supplier of transmissions and mechatronics for luxury performance-oriented cars;
  • Dana will grow in the segment of ECUs for gearboxes s and drivelines thanks to the purchase of VOCIS. This company fully belongs to Oerlikon Drive Systems.
  • Now Dana is significantly expanding its presence on the main markets (US, China, India) to be closer to potential clients;
  • Dana will add 4 R&D centers to its engineering capacities, and twelve manufacturing enterprises to enhance the company's presence on the global market.


According to Dana’s senior official, this deal is another major step in the company’s strategy on electrification. Dana acquired not only huge technical capacities, but also highly-qualified specialists of Oerlikon who will certainly help the company to gain a firm foothold in the critical markets.
