Schaeffler Takes Over Remainder of Compact Dynamics
In late 2017 Schaeffler Group, a major supplier of automobile and industrial equipment, announced acquisition of the whole share package of Compact Dynamics from SEMIKRON. Schaeffler previously bought the controlling interest (51%) and now the bargain was related to the rest 49 % of shares.
This step is also considered to be a serious investment in future opportunities and a great contribution to diversification of the product range. Compact Dynamics GmbH is specialized in development of electric drives and their control systems. Schaeffler and Compact Dynamics have been collaborating in the field of electric drives for a long time, and as a result designed the e-motor drive used in electric vehicles motor racing.
The takeover deal emphasizes serious intentions of Schaeffler in enhancing its technological expertise in this field. By 2020 Schaeffler plans to invest 500 million euros in the development of serial electric drives and hiring 1,200 new employees. In 2018 Schaeffler will open "E-mobility" division, which will unite all design engineering solutions for hybrid and electric cars.
