Both projects will be implemented in the
industrial park focused on developments and technologies for the future
automobile industry. It is expected that the new auto production facility will
start working in the spring of 2019. This project received more than half a
billion dollars of investments. It is expected that the annual output capacity
of this plant will reach about 400 thousand units.
Last spring, GAC Motor and Aisin officials
agreed on expansion of cooperation and establishment of the gearbox production
enterprise.
This initiative presupposes more than $ 300 million investment. It
is planned that the transmission production will be started by the end of 2020
and the annual output rate will reach 400 thousand transmissions.
According to GAC Motor officials, this transmission
production project will have a positive impact on economic and social
advancement. Annual transmission sales revenue is rated at the level of half a
billion dollars. This project will generate new jobs and help to regularly
train local specialists in order to comply with the highest production standards.
Established in 1969, the company Aisin AW is considered to be one of the leading producers of automatic gearboxes and navigation systems. Under this project, the joint enterprise will manufacture the six-speed automatic gearboxes, which is widely used in popular models of the Chinese carmaker, including GS8 and GS4.

GAC Motor puts in great efforts to reach a new
qualitative level of automobile production, thus the Chinese carmaker
establishes business ties with major suppliers of auto parts. Fields of
cooperation include key car elements and the latest technologies in the auto
industry. It helps GAC Motor’s global supply chain to comply with strict
industry requirements.
About Aisin AW
Aisin Co (in 1988 renamed as Aisin Warner) was established in 1969 by Aisin Seiki and Borg Warner as a joint venture for production of automatic transmissions. Initially, Aisin borrowed transmission development technologies from Borg Warner, but later it became completely independent. The company is owned by the Toyoda family, and two-thirds of its transmissions are intended for Toyota models. Today, Aisin AW is actually a part of the Toyota family. The Aisin AW division, specialized in production of automatic transmissions, is the largest company in the Aisin Seiki corporation, and it gives about 45% of the corporation’s total annual turnover.

Thanks to its production control method TPS (Toyota Production System), Aisin AW became one of the leading manufacturers of automatic transmissions which successfully compete with dual-clutch gearboxes. Automatic transmissions of Aisin AW became so popular that they are used not only by automakers without in-house transmission production (such as Volvo, Saab, Opel) but also found application in various models by auto-giants manufacturing their own automatic transmissions: GM, VAG, Nissan, Mazda. The most popular automatic transmission family produced by Aisin AW is certainly U140 - U240\250.
