New Punch Powertrain Plant Opens in China

At the beginning of February Punch Powertrain officially launched a new plant in Ningbo, China. The facility was completed in early 2018 after eight months of construction activities. It is the 2-nd industrial undertaking of the Belgian company in China.


Punch Powetrain is famous for its innovative approaches in development and manufacturing of CVTs, electric drives and combined powertrains for light-duty vehicles. In 2017 the company reached a milestone of 2 million produced CVT transmissions. It is planned that a new plant will be specialized in series production of VT3 CVT. This continuously variable transmission proved to be quite a reliable and economically viable product. VT3 can be integrated with a wide range of high-volume cars and niche vehicles.


China has a very good potential for promotion of CVT transmissions which provide significant benefits such as fuel economy and durability for Chinese customers, who often have to face traffic jams in big cities. The appearance of this new plant will help to attract more customers and provide high-quality services. Another plant located in Nanjing now will mainly deal with development of new products and performing testing procedures.
