Standard CVT transmissions include 3 main components: driving and driven pulleys with variable diameters and a metal (rubber) belt. Each pulley consists of 2 cones oriented towards each other. Pulleys operate in pairs: driving pulley is connected to the engine shaft (also called input shaft). Via this shaft energy is transmitted from the engine to the transmission.
