The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission 7DT45 (also known as Porsche PDK) has been produced since 2009. This transmission is installed on well-known Porsche car models, such as Carrera, Boxster, and Cayman. The 7DT45 is intended for rear- and full-wheel drive cars having engines with the capacity of up to 4.0L and torque equal to 450 Nm. The first 6 gears are short (for better acceleration), while the 7-th is tall (to pick up the maximum speed). Arrangement of the input and output shafts in the 7DT45 ensure a low center of gravity. Porsche engineers recommend changing ATF in this transmission every 90 thousand kilometers. The TCU of the 7DT45 can adjust the transmission to the particular driving style, thus making the transmission more efficient. In addition, there are such helpful features as Launch Control and Hill Start Assist. The time of one gear shifting is limited to 400-500 milliseconds. According to Porsche representatives, this transmission ensures reduction of fuel consumption by 15% and CO2 emissions decrease by 16%.
