Technical issues and repair guidelines
VAG DL501 (0B5) gearbox is structurally divided into two compartments - "mechanical" where the hypoid oil is used for mechanical gearboxes, and an "automatic" part with double clutch frictions and the valve body, where "intelligent" oil is used specially for DL501 - G 052 529 A2.
Typical problems
Chips from the drum harm both the filter and components of the gearbox, and the electrics. All gearboxes including 7-speed DL501 have issues with Mechatronics. The gearbox operation with metal chips in oil leads to rapid wear-out of solenoids. As far as the hardware of this gearbox is concerned, the main component to be replaced is the whole clutch drum.
