The automatic gearbox TH180 was designed and released by GM. This gearbox was produced and installed on cars with lengthway positioning of engines. TH180 after some period of time was rebranded as 3L30 and later succeeded by 4L30-E. This transmission was also created by was the company Holden (under the name Tri-Matic) and had been installed on Holden cars (1970 -1988).
