BorgWarner Unveils P2 Module
BorgWarner is a major enterprise known in the auto business by its eco-friendly and effective technological approaches. Its products improve car performance rates, propulsive efficiency, and guarantee reduction of air pollution. Recently BorgWarner developed P2 module for HEVs which should be another step to more highly-efficient and environment oriented cars.
This product will be manufactured in 2 modifications (on- and off-axis) and may be integrated in currently used drivetrains. The module provides substantial CO2 emission decrease and low extra costs in comparison with other hybrid architecture solutions. The module is mounted between IC engine and the gearbox, allowing the separation of engine and drivetrain and providing purely electric driving, stop-start functionality, and regenerative braking. Due to its design P2 modules can be adjusted to various types of gearboxes and solve the problem of tight packaging in advanced drivetrains. Moreover, it allows the application of various transmission ratios and usage of chain-operated units.
