Direct Drive iSG
EXEDY Corporation is a globally growing Japanese enterprise that specializes in the manufacturing of auto transmission parts. The company has a great record of more than 60 years in the auto business, but EXEDY specialists are eager to capture new opportunities and contribute a lot of efforts to development of new technologies.
One of current goals is an independent development of an iSG (integrated Starter Generator). Commonly these generators are belt-operated and are used in trucks as a power-supply source and for starting a car. EXEDY engineers plan to mount iSG around the torque converter or clutch and connect it straight to the engine without a belt. The main objective of this development is higher fuel efficiency by means of lower friction loss; another aims are cost cutting and saving of space with the help of integrating and removing components.
