Probably every transmission repair specialist was keen on LEGO constructions or at least enjoyed making some minor things with their hands. Here's the game taken to a new level of creativity!

Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

Motul Presents New Transmission Fluid for Hybrid Vehicles

Motul, a global French company specialized in production of automotive lubricants, has recently announced the release of a new DHT e-ATF fluid specifically intended for transmissions installed in hybrid cars. The company’s press office says that the new product complies with the JASO 1A-LV (low viscosity) standard and exceeds the requirements to original transmission fluids in hybrid vehicles.

The Motul DHT e-ATF fluid us a fully synthetic product with dielectric qualities, which increase the transmission reliability and reduce fuel consumption rates. According to Motul, the composition of the new product allows to improve the e-motor isolation, increase its efficiency, and to ensure solid protection of the transmission and the e-motor against corrosion.

In addition, the new fluid is compatible with polymer and lacquer coating used in electric motors and connectors. This ATF has anti-wear and anti-foam properties, and it is absolutely harmless for gaskets, joints, and elastomers. The Motul DHT e-ATF transmission fluid is available in 1 liter package. This product meets quality requirements of major manufacturers of hybrid vehicles (Toyota, Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi).

Today, Motul is presented in dozens of countries all over the world with its innovative lubrication solutions. The French company was the 1-st producer of lubricating solutions to apply the ester technology for the development of its fully synthetic car oils. Moreover, the company has also developed strong business ties with major automakers and its products gained considerable success in motorsports.
