2020 GM Vans Get Transmission Updates
Recently, GM has announced that 2 of its 2020 models, namely Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana, will receive some upgrades of their transmission systems. It is claimed that the 8-speed automatics installed in both vans will be equipped with a fresh torque converters and absorbing mechanism. This measure is applied to models in which the powertrain includes the abovementioned gearbox paired with the Duramax engine.

GM engineers argue that both improvements
ensure several advantages such as a quieter and more stable operation as well
as enhanced durability. Output characteristics of the engine paired with the
8-speed shifting unit are rated at 180 hp at 3,400 RPM and 500 Nm at 2,000 RPM.
Starting from 2020 model year, both vans will
be sold on the automobile market in 3 variants, including Cargo, Passenger, and
Cutaway. Each variant has its design features attributed to their applications.

It should be noted that both vans are offered in all powertrain variants, with only one specific exception: the Duramax LWN engine is installed in Cargo and Passenger variants, but not in the Cutaway variant.
