Allison Offers its Transmission Solutions to Merkator Holding
Allison Transmission is a world-renowned American company specialized in manufacturing automatic transmissions for different types of commercial vehicles (CVs). CVs equipped with Allison’s automatics are well-known for durability, robustness, fuel economy, as well as maintenance-friendliness. As a part of strategy on strengthening its positions in the municipal applications, Allison offered to perform a pilot modification for Merkator Holding, a major provider of road and public utilities machinery in Russia. The main idea behind this initiative was to modify one of the company’s trucks by equipping it with Allison’s transmission.
Allison 4000 Series transmission
The officials of the Russian company became very enthusiastic about this project, which eventually led to modification of a KAMAZ 6520 vehicle: they replaced the original transmission with the 4000 SeriesTM unit. The vehicle is intended for intensive road maintenance in winter time. According to the Russian company, this vehicle has gained reputation of a reliable truck that is capable of operating at least a decade without significant operating costs.
Despite the reliability of this vehicle,
Merkator Holding’ representatives are well aware of impressive operational
characteristics of Allison’s products and they that there is always a room for
improvement. That’s why the Russian company without much doubt decided to
modify its multipurpose road machinery. If the results of this testing initiative
turn out to be positive, Merkator Holding may consider possibilities of further
collaboration with Allison Transmission.
KAMAZ 6520
The automatic KAMAZ 6520 is expected to operate in Kaluga where fuel efficiency, operation cost, performance capacity, as well as user-friendliness will be estimated. Possibilities of future cooperation between the both parties will be discussed once the testing stage is over.
