Allison Transmission Attaches Great Hopes to Natural Gas Technologies
Last month, Allison Transmission took part in the Assembly, where Trond Johansen, company’s representative in Spain, shared his visions on prospects of natural gas to become the leading fuel option for heavy trucks and Allison automatics as an ideal supplement to natural gas engines.
Allison is quite enthusiastic about promoting
natural gas as more environment-friendly alternative to conventional fuels.
Therefore, the company plans to enhance the cooperation with Gasnam, the
association focused on fostering the use of natural gas and renewable gas in
land-based and maritime mobility in the Iberian Peninsula.
Allison designs and produces automatic gear
shifting solutions that can be easily paired with compressed natural gas (CNG)
and liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines. It has been proven in practice that
Allison products improve the operating qualities of this non-conventional fuel
and enhance efficiency of its performance on different types of vehicles. During
his speech, Mr. Johansen also gave insights into benefits of Allison products
in comparison to manual and automated manual gearboxes.

Currently, natural gas is the most promising option
for heavy trucks, despite the fact that many automakers heavily invest in the
electrification technologies. But the E-mobility initiative still has a long
way to go in many aspects, while natural fuel is the only proven solution that
will allow heavy-duty transport to cut CO2 emissions by 30% in 11 years.
Heavy vehicle powered by natural fuel are more productive because of higher effectiveness and better operational characteristics ensured by Allison’s automatics. Allison products allow truck drivers to speed up faster if compared to other gearboxes. Moreover, FuelSense, Allison’s latest fuel-saving software, not only facilitates lowering CO2 emissions, but also greatly cuts expenditures. Moreover, Allison technologies reduce the noise pollution level on the road by 50%-90% in contrast to diesel vehicles.
Allison will take part in the upcoming Gasnam Congress on April 10 and 11, where the company will have a chance to share more benefits of its products and explain why natural fuel engines and Allison automatics are the ideal match.
