Allison Transmission Presents Just-Launched Magirus Fire-fighting Vehicle at SICUR 2018
Allison Transmission not long ago presented the new Magirus City fire-fighting truck at SICUR 2018, the International Fair dedicated to security technologies and equipment for fire services and security providers. Perfect for operation in urban areas, the just-launched vehicle has a restricted axle spacing and slim bodywork structure coupled with an Allison 3000 gearbox for improved speed-up characteristics and maneuvering capability. This vehicle model enables a passageway through narrow streets with sharp turns, which can be a big problem for larger cars.

The robustness of the Allison gearbox gives extra support to firemen who can get to the accident site in proper time. In critical cases, both running and speed-up parameters are crucial for fire-fighting trucks. Allison gearboxes guarantee that the engine transmits power to the wheels seamlessly and constantly for better speed-up execution and shorter travel times. The interaction of an Iveco 250 hp engine with the Allison gearbox, including a hydraulic retarder for better braking and decreased brake wear-out, ensures the most favourable conditions for high-quality emergency service.
ABOUT Allison 3000
Series transmission
Allison 3000 Series gearboxes are developed for
medium-duty trucks and can be adjusted for efficient operation under different
conditions. This gearbox has an updated ECU unit, which provides better control
and diagnostics capacities. A wide selection of gear ratios and the possibility
of coupling with engines with the power up to 450 hp make this gearbox extremely
efficient. Allison 3000 Series has up to 7 gears, including overdrive, and the
PTO mechanism driven by the engine.
