Allison Transmission Provides Transmission Solution for Hyundai "Mighty" Truck
Allison Transmission, a major provider of automatic transmission solutions for commercial vehicles, has recently entered into partnership with Hyundai Motor Company, to supply its Allison 1000 xFE™ automatics for the Mighty Light Duty Truck.
As one of the biggest truck producers in Korea,
with a constantly growing share on the global automotive market, Hyundai has opted
for Allison’s product to offer their customers enhanced operating
characteristics and exceptional driving experience. Before shifting to the 1000
xFE, Hyundai equipped the Mighty with a stick shift only. Undeniable advantages
of automatics in fuel efficiency, durability, maintainability and enhanced
operating capacity made Allison the best choice for Hyundai.

Moreover, Allison and Hyundai have a long and
largely successful record of cooperation, as Allison’s products have been
actively used in medium trucks and buses of the Korean manufacturer. Future
drivers of Mighty trucks will certainly appreciate outstanding reliability and
maneuverability of trucks equipped with 1000 xFE units. In contrast to manuals
and AMT analogs, the Allison 1000 xFE is notable for better launch performance,
smooth and timely shifting, ensuring more comfortable driving.
The design of this Allison unit includes a
proprietary torque converter for a launching device, which guarantees enhanced
performance and excludes the necessity to replace a clutch like in manuals.
This helps to achieve significant economic benefits due to lower downtime, if
compared to analogs currently available on the market. Thanks to the use of the
TC unit, the gearbox ensures better maneuverability in tight spaces whether in
cities with heavy traffic or on building areas.

Taking into account that vehicle manufacturers currently put priority on fuel economy, the choice of 1000 xFE unit make it possible for Hyundai to combine a unique hardware and FuelSense® 2.0 software for optimal fuel consumption rates. The software with the integrated DynActive technology uses a special learning algorithm to constantly control and adjust shifting for perfect balance of fuel efficiency and performance, based on the truck’s duty cycle.
The Mighty truck is planned to find application in different industry sectors of South Korea. The production of Mighty trucks equipped with Allison 1000 xFE was launched last month.
