Audi Faces Problems with Emissions Control Software
The recall campaign of Audi premium cars starts in Germany and will affect 127,000 vehicles. This measure is caused by illegal software found in Audi cars. The software helped the automaker to get around restrictions on engine emission.
All cars to be recalled are equipped with the diesel engine V6 TDI and the list of models includes Audi A4, Audi A5, Audi A6, Audi A7, Audi A8, Audi Q5, and Audi Q7. The above-mentioned soft was installed on these cars and disabled limitations on harmful gas emissions established by Euro-6 standard. Audi A8 cars released before the middle of 2017 are also under a cloud of suspicion. Approximately 77,000 of enlisted cars were sold in Germany; others were distributed all over the world.
Volkswagen Group, the parent company of Audi, have been facing the problem of unauthorized software since 2015, when it emerged that about 11 million cars of these brands had illegal software that allowed bypassing of emission standards. The press relations service of Audi reports that this measure has been planned and coordinated with German authorities.
