Audi Recalls R8 Models due to Transmission Issue
Audi has recently reported about the recall of 1,916 R8 Coupe and Spyder models to eliminate a possible flame formation issue. Due to faults in the transmission ventilation hose, it is likely that transmission oil can drip out and get on the warmed-up engine, eventually leading to a flame development.

The Audi R8 was designed for high speeds. This supercar has a lower price than analogs produced by other car brands. No wonder that admirers of high speeds want to make the most out of the Audi R8 speed capacities. But owners of the abovementioned models should bear in mind that leakages of highly inflammable transmission oil may lead to road accidents.
The carmaker informed in its recall related
documents that there are some “fast speed” and “maneuvering” cases when
transmission oil seeps out the vent hose. Practically, it is most likely to happen
when Audi R8 drivers compete at race tracks, and smoke generation probably will
be noticeable long before the risk of fire. Anyway, the company expressed the readiness
to fix the defect for free in all already purchased cars or check for
transmission issues.

The problem emerged after several fire accidents which happened with Audi R8 sportcars at racing tracks. This prompted an internal investigation and helped to detect the source of malfunction. The recall will include R8 Coupe and Spyder models manufactured in 2017-18. Moreover, Audi launched a hotline for additional consultations.
Owners of the abovementioned models have to
bring their cars back to their dealership centre to eliminate the problem. Specialists
will replace the existing vent hose with a new double vent hose. That should be
a perfect solution, and this service along with spare parts is reported to be
absolutely free of charge. Audi will begin informing car owners on October 31. Unsold
cars will also be inspected and repaired if needed.
Earlier it became known that, by a court
decision, Audi must pay 800 million euros fine for being involved in the
Dieselgate scandal.
