BorgWarner United Transmission Systems Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary
BorgWarner United Transmission Systems (BWUTS),
a joint venture between BorgWarner and the Chinese company CDUI, has recently
celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special ceremony held in China. This
milestone event has been attended by local politicians, major industry
representatives, main customers and company staff to mark significant achievements
of this business for a decade of fruitful work, including the production of its
3 millionth DCT module.
This promising business initiative was founded
in 2009. Based in China, BWUTS produces the main modules for DCT transmissions,
and P2 hybrid architecture solutions, which can substantially improve a car’s
fuel saving and drivability. The grand ceremony is a sign of recognition of the
facility’s rapid development and success, which manifested itself in production
of the 3 millionth DCT unit.

As a big player in the area of gear shifting
solutions, BW has a proven record of providing main elements and embedded
systems for car transmissions. BWUTS product portfolio mainly includes the
following: wet dual-clutch modules, torsional vibration-damping modules, control

BW also organized a special meeting with industry experts to discuss future prospects of the DCT transmission technology in China and how it can be applied in transport of the future. BW representatives also shared interesting views on progress of its advanced transmission technologies. The judges of the “Global Top 10 Best Transmissions” award also took part in the abovementioned discussion on the P2 hybrid application, discussing the main tendencies in the HEV market. During this meeting, professional judges pointed out that we should expect a significant boost in the HEV market development, as the automotive business is currently experiencing a fundamental shift to environmentally-friendly technologies. As a promising technology for future cars, P2 architecture has already attracted attention of numerous OEMs. BW’s on-axis P2 drive module ensures cost-friendly hybridization by being applicable in existing vehicle platforms.
The cutting edge production process allows BW to produce smaller, more robust e-motors in large numbers and will contribute to development in the hybrid vehicle market. Besides P2 systems, BW still can offer P1, P3 and P1+P3 architecture solutions.
