BorgWarner’s Integrated Drive Module Finds Application in China
BorgWarner (BW) has recently entered into an
agreement with one of China’s major New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brands to provide
the fully integrated drive module (iDM) for their EVs. This kind of cooperation
represents BW’s 1-st iDM undertaking in China. The company’s EV system solution
combines high-capacity power electronics with an advanced gearbox unit and
drive motor having a HV hairpin stator. The EV equipped with the BW’s iDM unit
is expected to hit the market in 2021.
A senior representative of BW PowerDrive Systems says that the company’s solid product range for EVs makes it a useful partner for major car manufacturers around the globe, as they gradually shift toward integration of more environment-oriented technologies. BW values business ties with its major customers and puts in great efforts in provision of complete systems for their EVs. The iDM production line is offered in 3 various power levels and can be easily adjusted to the front or rear axle of EVs.
The key benefits of the iDM include its scalable
and modular configuration, variety of gear ratios as well as possible e-motor
sizes. The iDM system ensures up to 150Kw power and up to 3000 Nm torque (which
can be increased to 160Kw and 3800 Nm). The sophisticated e-drive product
guarantees smooth and noiseless operation. The iDM module can be installed in Class
A and A+ passenger cars and SUVs.
All elements integrated in the iDM are part of BW’s product portfolio; parts are available as a completely unified module or as self-sufficient products. Moreover, the iDM provides several extra features, facilitating to control over car parameters. This software is developed in accordance with the highest quality standards and can be adapted to popular platforms like AUTOSAR.
