Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

CARDONE Starts a New Repair Video Competition

CARDONE Starts a New Repair Video Competition

CARDONE Industries has recently announced the 4-th launch of its popular video contest series for car repair specialists, who will have a great opportunity to demonstrate their workmanship and to compete for a fantastic cash prize ($5,000). Thanks to the initial success of this project, CARDONE has come to a determination to further develop its initiative and challenge car troubleshooters with varying levels of workmanship, from professionals to self-learners, to record and share an original video where they show their skills in diagnosing, installing or repairing car components.

According to CARDONE spokesmen, the new contest will be different from the previous competitions: if previously participants had to perform any trick related to the auto repair regardless of the complexity level, now they want to bring the contest to a new level by encouraging potential participants to approach this task with out-of-the-box thinking and do something special that goes beyond standard car maintenance services.

To take part in this endeavour, videos should be submitted via videocontest.cardone.com. The application period runs from October 1, 2019, to January 31, 2020. Initially, all submitted videos will be set for a public vote on the website (until February 14, 2020) to choose the top 5 videos, which will move on to the next round. At the final stage, 5 best videos will be estimated by a panel of the industry experts on the basis of several criteria. The prize-taker will be determined by the final vote from CARDONE experts.

The results of the contest will be announced on February 28, 2020, via the contest website and on cardone.com. The best videos of the competition will be published on the company’s YouTube channel.
