Fiat Chrysler Recalls 1.8 Million Ram Pickups
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles reported about the recall of approximately 1.8 million puck-up trucks. The company plans to eliminate problems with the transmission, which can lead to the situation when the car independently shifts out of park and starts moving.
Fiat Chrysler representatives inform that the recall list will cover pick-up trucks Ram 1500 produced in 2009-2017 as well as Ram trucks and pick-ups without the bodywork, including 1,48 million cars sold in the US. Under the condition of high temperature these cars may start moving even while being in the parking mode and with no pedals pressed. According to Fiat, seven injuries and small number of accidents may be associated with this malfunction.
After the analysis specialists found out that the problem was related to the shift lock component. The company will take measures to eliminate defects and recommends that drivers of affected cars should use a handbrake until the problem is resolved. It is the 5-th major recall of Fiat Chrysler vehicles in the last four months. All recalls are not interrelated and affected different models of vehicles.
