Probably every transmission repair specialist was keen on LEGO constructions or at least enjoyed making some minor things with their hands. Here's the game taken to a new level of creativity!

Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

HYCET Presents Its New Powertrain Solutions in Frankfurt

HYCET Technology Co., Ltd. ("HYCET"), a Chinese producer of auto spare parts, took part in the European auto exhibition in Frankfurt. The company presented its latest "I-era" powertrain solutions, including its new engine solution, cutting-edge EDS system, DP-EPS unit, and most interestingly its dual-clutch transmission (known as 9DCT).

Founded just over a year ago, HYCET has become the main provider of spare parts for GWM, designing products that ensure high running characteristics. These solutions are notable for incorporated ecologically-safe and energy-efficient features. HYCET’s powertrain products have found application in popular GWM's models.

The engine solution named 4N20 is designed to ensure enhanced fuel economy and operating characteristics. Moreover, it is the 1-st unit in China to make use of the Miller cycle for enhanced fuel economy. It is also notable for impressive temperature efficiency and heat endurance.

The 9DCT unit is one more "I-era" solution shown at the exhibition. This company is the 1-st Chinese carmaker to independently design a transmission solution. This high-load unit is housed in a light-weight and space-saving casing. The company also takes part in manufacturing gear shifting units for e-cars (EVs). Visitors of the exhibition also had a chance to see China's first self-engineered e-drive unit. HYCET also plans to present its DP-EPS solution developed for off-roaders and SUVs.

9DCT transmission

To stay competitive during the rise of electrification, HYCET has designed hybrid variants of its currently available solutions. Thanks to the use of sophisticated techs, the company’s engineers managed to achieve a solid speed-up capacity: from 0 to 100km/h in under 5 secs, thereby enhancing its fuel-efficiency. In years to come, the company plans to grow into a major service provider of connected car units. Thanks to a large product portfolio, HYCET will be able to offer complete solution for carmakers.

According to HYCET, the Frankfurt exhibition is a great opportunity for the company to show progress of the Chinese auto engineering to the whole world.
