Probably every transmission repair specialist was keen on LEGO constructions or at least enjoyed making some minor things with their hands. Here's the game taken to a new level of creativity!

Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

Schaeffler Enters E-motor Manufacturing Sector

Schaeffler has recently announced its intention to enter the segment of the electric motor production with its modular, sophisticated tech platform. The product range of e-motors from Schaeffler can find application in modules, dedicated hybrid transmissions as well as e-axle drives.

Created with performance capacity and reasonable pricing in mind, Schaeffler’s solutions vary in voltage from 48 to 800V, with possible power capacities from 15 to more than 300kW. High-volume manufacturing for businesses of Shaeffler customers worldwide is scheduled to be launched in 2021.

To reach this stage of development in this area Shaeffler had to take over Elmotec Statomat last year. Now the company has all required technical capacities to produce high-quality e-motors. Solid professional integrity in mechanical parts, manufacturing activities, and winding tech solutions as well as a thorough comprehension of all car elements ensure shorter lead times and more cohesive processes for providing advanced e-motors. Schaeffler plans to use its well-developed technical capacity all over the world to establish and operate the production cycles. Schaeffler will showcase its e-motors built in-house and 100% ready for a high-volume production as full systems at the IAA.

Thanks to obtaining expertise in the designing and constructing e-motors, the company not only expands its product line, but also makes another step forward in implementation of its E-Mobility strategy. Now users of Schaeffler solutions have a professional and reliable supplier of the top-quality e-motors constructed on the basis of their requirements and mobility needs.
