Probably every transmission repair specialist was keen on LEGO constructions or at least enjoyed making some minor things with their hands. Here's the game taken to a new level of creativity!

Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

This is the ONLY Manual Ferrari 430 Scuderia In the World

The Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a dream come true for any speed fans all over the world. However, in the view of driving aesthetes, the only thing that has been missing for a long time in the design of this supercar is the manual option.

Unfortunately, manufacturers of supercars no longer offer manual options for their products, making models like Scuderia an elusive dream. However, a company called European Auto Group (EAG) managed to produce the manual 430 Scuderia, claiming that there is no existing analogs to this engineering masterpiece. It should be noted that Ferrari has never offered the manual Scuderia version, significantly complicating the process of conversion.

Interior

According to EAG, the company’s engineers used original Ferrari parts with the only purpose to preserve the car's originality. It is also pointed out that this was a 100% conversion, not a simple replacement. This unique car is still equipped with the original gearbox, but the clutch is now controlled directly by the driver rather than a computer.

This engineering endeavor can be considered as a heroic deed. Before starting this fantastic initiative EAG officials obtained consent from the Ferrari president, but he was very pessimistic about the success of this engineering undertaking. EAG had to buy original spare parts from Ferrari (wiring harness and clutch pedal). The gate and gearstick were also purchased from Ferrari. All these original components were complemented by the unique center console designed by EAG engineers.

The final product surpassed all expectations. The only noticeable indications that this supercar once had the automatic transmission are 2 small holes in the steering column where the paddle shifters used to be positioned. EAG's manual gearbox makes the car agile, adding more vivid impressions to your driving experience unlike driving other Ferrari models. For any car collector, this unique 430 Scuderia is a must-have model.

This car is now available for potential customers at a cost of $389,900 (EAG engineers also added a number of other features apart from a manual gearbox). EAG plans to further develop in this direction and to offer other conversion options to its potential customers.
