Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

Pentosin ATF 134 FE (Blue) has been created to improve operation capacity of Mercedes-Benz 7-G Tronic Plus. This advanced OEM-approved fluid is the lowest viscosity ATF available worldwide, ensuring a higher level of fuel efficiency and low-temperature performance. It is provided in 2 sizes, one liter and five liter. Pentosin ATF 134 FE (Blue) is not backwards-compatible to Pentosin ATF 134 (Red).

7-G Tronic Plus

Pentosin ATF 134 (Red) has been introduced to enhance gear shifting capacity for the next gen of Mercedes NAG-2 gearboxes. It received OE-approval on Mercedes specifications, and this product can be applied for twenty-five million cars running across North America.

About 7-G Tronic Plus

This 7-speed automatic transmission offers a harmonious combination of comfort driving experience and fuel efficiency. This gearbox is notable for softness and high speed of gear shifting. In addition, 7-G Tronic Plus facilitates to reduction in emissions and fuel consumption. Drivers of cars equipped with this transmission can easily accelerate on the road because of higher acceleration potential of the transmission. The process of fuel consumption optimization is monitored by the built-in "ECO Start / Stop" function: it automatically disables the engine during stoppages at traffic lights or standing in traffic jams, and then restarts it.

With this transmission drivers can shift gears by means of paddle shifters or selector lever. When compared to its predecessor 5G-Tronic, fuel economy reaches up to 0.6 liters per 100 kilometers (depending on the car model); the acceleration time has also been reduced thanks to faster gear shifting. This gearbox will be a great solution for those who prefer smooth and regular driving style. Admirers of high speeds will feel more comfortable with the 7G-Tronic Sport.
