ZF Strengthens its Presence in China
Thanks to establishment of new production facilities and numerous capacity-building activities, ZF is strengthens its presence in China, the world's most promising auto market. The German company has been establishing its infrastructure in China for more than 25 years - currently there are 32 facilities with different intended uses.Currently, ZF puts in great efforts to increase the availability of its powertrain-related solutions on the Chinese market. ZF already provides its Chinese clients with sophisticated solutions for e-mobility and self-driving technologies, and establishes business ties with new business partners.
According to ZF officials, the company strives
to implement so-called 'local for local' strategy in China. Local ZF’s customers
hope to make significant progress with the help of top-quality German-made
components in the near future. Thanks to considerable investments in the future
technologies, ZF wants to play a more important role in the future auto
industry of China.
8HP transmission
It is worth noting that ZF plans to start manufacturing its 8-speed automatic gearboxes (named 8HP) at the Shanghai production facility. As a result, ZF will be able to provide local customers with its core transmission solution. In the long run, ZF plans to manufacture purely e-drives in China; output capacities for this purpose are currently in progress. To cope with growing demand for EPS units, ZF is currently constructing a new steering plant in China. Thanks to close cooperation with the Chinese company Foton, specialized in production of commercial vehicles, ZF will soon start manufacturing TraXon gearboxes for commercial trucks at the joint production enterprise in China.

ZF considers the possibility of creating about
a thousand workplaces for local high-quality specialists aiming to expand
capabilities of its two development centers in China, which are firmly
connected with other ZF's R&D centers worldwide. This step will spur faster
appearance of innovative products on the Chinese market.
Thanks to its innovative vectors of development such as e-mobility, self-driving technologies, integrated safety systems, and car traffic control solutions - ZF has gained recognition as a reliable partner not only for Chinese automakers, but also for representatives of the automobile business from all over the world. Currently, the German company employs approx. 15,000 of fully committed specialists, and this number will only grow in the nearest future.
