Probably every transmission repair specialist was keen on LEGO constructions or at least enjoyed making some minor things with their hands. Here's the game taken to a new level of creativity!

Modern auto industry is full of sophisticated drivetrain technologies which are supposed to make your driving experience even more pleasant and trouble-free. Despite a great abundance of sophisticated technical solutions, it is highly likely that very few people know a transmission solution operating like a manual CVT.

Over recent years engineers developed a lot of gear shifting solutions for different car brands, which may seem a bit unusual for oldtime drivers. In this article we will review the most peculiar gear stick technologies and provide video materials related to these technologies.

Only few people know about transmission concepts which were popular 70-90 years ago. For men of today, these gearboxes may seem very unusual and weird, but even now some gearboxes that date back to those years are quite competitive in comparison with modern transmissions.

Nowadays Extroid CVTs are commonly known as “toroidal” due to the fact that the working surface of driving and driven discs in this transmission has the form of a torus. Extroid CVT is not a V-belt transmission, but a friction drive CVT.

Australian Develops F-1 Replica for Public Roads

Admirers of Formula One (F-1) racing competitions pretty soon will have the opportunity to feel like a professional race driver. The Australian Zac Mihajlovic is developing an F-1 racecar replica which can be used on public roads.

Zacaria

Zac started this remarkable project 2 years ago and he plans to complete the replica by the end of the year. The supercar, named Zacaria, is planned to be equipped with a Ferrari engine, hydraulic lift-system, wings (spoiler), and racing transmission. It has been reported that Mihajlovic plans to launch a small-size production of Zacaria. Potential buyers of the supercar will have to loosen their purse strings because the approximate price for the supercar will be about $725,000.

Mihajlovic partially revealed the information about technical components of Zacaria in his Instagram. The engine is a 6.3-liter V12 taken from Ferrari Berlinetta. The engine will operate with a 6-speed gearbox from Albins, a company that manufactures gearbox solutions for racing cars of the Supercars series. Customers will be offered a choice between a standard gear lever and paddle shifters. Mihajlovic believes that the Ferrari engine is a great choice for a racing car designed for public roads, and assumes that the power-weight ratio will be approximately 1:1. The engine output equals to 740 hp. The weight of the car is 700 kg. The car body is made of polished aluminium. The car is unpainted so you don’t have to bother about body blemishes.

It should be noted that the F-1 racecar replica for public roads is not the first unusual endeavor for the creative engineer from Australia. Several years ago, Zac Mihajlovic designed a drivable Batmobile from Batman movie. Zac, instead of making money by selling a unique car, decided to help incurably-ill children together with the charity organization Make-A-Wish. He frequently dresses as a Batman and entertains children
