After the huge success of the VT2/VT3 transmission line in China, Punch Powertrain came up with a series of other innovative solutions. One of them was a VT5 transmission that hit the market just over a year ago. Within such a short period of time, the company managed to produce the 100.000's VT5 unit.

Punch Powertrain (PP), a major supplier of powertrain and transmission solutions for the auto industry, has chosen Jorge Solis, who previously who held senior positions at Wabco and Valeo, to a position of its new CEO. The job position became vacant last spring when long-term Punch CEO Cor van Otterloo passed away.

The Belgian company Punch Powertrain received an award in the "Technology" nomination for its innovative gearbox solution DT2. The award panel emphasized that the space-saving and modular structure of DT2 has a significant practical utility for automakers and end customers.

At Guangzhou Automobile Exhibition, Ford presented a new SUV intended for conquering the car market in China – Ford Territory. The automatic variant of the car is equipped with a CVT provided by Punch Powertrain.

Recently, PSA Group and Punch Powertrain have made public their plans to enter into a joint venture (JV) agreement to manufacture the new electrified transmission (e-DCT). It is planed that the manufacturing process will be launched in 2022.

In May this year, Punch Powertrain and XPT, an international start-up, located in China, specialized in E-propulsion units, have entered into an agreement that will give birth to a new production enterprise in Nanjing. It is planned that the new plant will manufacture Electric Powertrains and the annual output will be at a rate of hundreds of thousands of units.

PSA Group accelerates its transition to hybrid and electric powertrains. Recently, it has transpired that Punch Powertrain will be the supplier of electrified gearbox solutions for vehicles of the French auto giant.

At the beginning of February Punch Powertrain officially launched a new plant in Ningbo, China. The facility was completed in early 2018 after eight months of construction activities. It is the 2-nd industrial undertaking of the Belgian company in China.

At the beginning of 2018, Landwind unveiled its brand-new car Xiaoyao. It is the 1-st car which is actually equipped with VT5 transmission. This CVT is notable for the largest available ratio coverage when comparing it with other competitive products.
