New FuelTech Software Update Ensures Improved Transmission Control
Pacing technologies have always been the main factor in progress and competitive power of FuelTech company, specialized in production of controllers and management systems for racing cars. Thanks to its innovation-oriented approach, FuelTech managed to gain success in drag racing, where new features can give you fractions of seconds’ advantage over other racers. Recently, FuelTech has updated ECU software released software update for ECUs in drag racing cars, ensuring improved control over gearbox operation.
In the past, engineers of drag racing teams had
to install a wide range of different controllers to keep track of all
operational parameters. It was not only complicated in terms of the design of
the racing car, but also increased its maintenance expenses. Thanks to the
ongoing competition between manufacturers and innovative technologies,
companies, such as FuelTech, find ways to optimize the design of drag racing
cars and to enhance their performance characteristics.
FT600 control and monitoring system
FuelTech’s management system FT600 is a sophisticated
solution coming with unique features intended for monitoring of the main
operational parameters in drag racing cars, including gear shifting. It has
integrated GearController intended for ignition cut for clutchless gear
shifting. This system also controls such important parameters as transmission
pressure and temperature. This advanced system can not only control the process
of gear shifting, but also actuates torque converter lock-ups.
The new update was conceived as a means of consolidation for electronic components of the dragster. This solution will not only help to save space under the hood, it also eliminates a whole lot of additional wiring, thereby reducing the total weight of the car. The new update is compatible with all drag racing gearboxes. The thing is that each drag racing gearbox has some operational peculiarities (namely gearbox outputs) and the abovementioned software update is supposed to improve the gear shifting control, provide enhanced driver input, and ensure data feedback.
Moreover, the new update also makes it possible
for a driver to control the lockup feature by means of the pressure bleeding
elements. There is also a staging control feature for the Powerglide, TH400, or
gearboxes that utilize a single or dual transbrake output. The update also
allows regulating the fluid dump for the torque converter. One more peculiar
feature is data logging on the info coming from gearbox sensors.
