The 4-speed automatic transmission 4T80E was designed in 1993 together with 4.6 liter engine V8 Northstar for FWD Cadillac models. In 2004, this heavy and high-priced transmission was significantly updated and installed with the same engine on Buicks and Oldsmobiles.
